Or is that the lines have just been blurred?

Could be Germ...im just not to worried about the whole thing...maybe i am still in the stage of working things out for myself..i was allways so dead against them..just as with piercings...yet i have pierced ears....i just think its all about taste ..and where they are ..and the reason for getting these things done...still mulling over the whole thing

It all boils down to personal conviction, and ask yourself before you get one, is this giving glory to God?

JUst to add a bit more to that...when havnt lines become blurred through the ages...the way i dress( and i dress modestly) would have been considered sinful years ago...i wear jeans and womens pants...i wear makeup...i show my lower legs and all of my arms...i could go on and on..i have often wondered about this sort of stuff...to me it all boils down to what i believe is right for me...wether i believe God is pleased with what i do...and the example i set for others.

Personal preference, although I wouldn't recommend get Jn 3:16 tattooed on your bum.

which is likely why God said not to get them in the Old Testament. Because of what they represented at the time. If I remember right, earrings were also banned. Obviously things changed in the New Testament where everything was narrowed down to your heart and intentions, not outward adherance to a rule.

I actually don't think that we can sit down and wonder if everything we do is going to give God the glory or not? Example - If i were to get a tat (which i wouldn't mind personally) i would have the names of each of my children on each of my arms. Now that is not giving God the glory, but it's also not a vein act of pride aswell. I just love my kids and think it would mean something to me and them as they grew up.
I think it's all about the intention......There are manny things done that may not bring god the glory as such.....but at the same time are not done with bad or wrong intentions.............We don't want to over spiritualise things too much or i think we can come across as weird!!!

True but Tatts to these cultures still have that meaning.
I agree its "work out your own salvation" but the truth remains that Tatts have a 'dark side' and why do we need to blur the lines in Christianity and we choose to ignore that yes they can be seen as a fashion statement (like earings) but to this day certain piercings still have a different meaning than just fashion.

Thats my point germ...some piercings still have a dark side...some tatts still have a dark side...but not all...once again its what they are and where they are and the reason for having them...my view anyway

so do we ban people who already have tats from our churches? because they could try to have them surgically removed if they were "really" saved...
sorry but I think that's getting legalistic again. I do get what you're trying to say but I cant think born again Christians are going to run off and get a heap of bikie tats or something equally yuck. And if they do, then I would think they already had issues and the tats are maybe not the biggest problem they are having....

Thats my point Germ there are some tatts with a dark side and some piercings with a dark side....so once again it comes down to what they are ..where they are on the body ...and the reason for having them..thats my view anyway

Have read a few of the anti and pro tattoo arguments on line , yes scripture is scarce and
the Leviticus mention is in the midst of some things we can’t relate to. Context
definitely needs to be looked at, none the less if I am going to er I will er
on the safe side. We are encouraged to abstain from all appearances of evil. I
am not saying that people who have tats are evil. I am saying that prior to the
current generations tattooing was associated with tribalism, witchcraft and the
beautifying of what God has already created in his image perfect

There is still an argument for “abstaining from appearances of evil. Any way you put it tattooing is a worldly pursuit.
Decorating the creature.

Trigger happy to brand my pony.
