Q. Which Potters House church does this forum refer to?

The Potters House churches discussed are not TD Jakes' Potters House. The Potters House referred to is the group of churches under the Christian Fellowship Churches (CFM) umbrella that was started by Wayman Mitchell in the mid-70's in Arizona. These churches are known as The Potters House, The Door, and a small number are called Victory Chapel.


Q. What is the purpose of this forum?

The main role of the forum is to provide a resource of information for anyone with questions about the Potters House. The main concern is not with individuals in the Fellowship, but with some of the teachings.

Q. Who can join the forum?

Anyone is welcome to join. All that is needed to register on the forum is a valid email address. The forum is moderated, so personal attacks will be removed and members whom continually cause problems may be banned. Members and guests are welcome to disagree with viewpoints on the forum, just as long as the discussion doesn't erode into verbal abuse or badgering.


Q. What is the guest forum?

The guest forum is the only area where unregistered guests are permitted to write posts. Guests do not need to sign up. To post in the other sections of the forum however, guests will need to register. Posts in the guest forum will be moderated and access may be removed without notice.


Q. What is Eternity Christian Church?

This is the church that David Vicary is now pastoring. A small number of other Potters House churches also decided to come under the Eternity name after becoming dissatisfied with the events of the Beechboro split.


Q. Who is now pastoring the Beechboro Potters House?

After David Vicary resigned, Wayman Mitchell initially took over for six months, and then subsequently announced Tom Payne would be taking over. Tom Payne is on the Board of Elders and was pastoring in Gallup, New Mexico at the time of the split.


Q. If you claim you're free from the Potters House, why don't you just move on? Why do you have to keep talking about the Fellowship?

Most members who left in 2009 were in the Potters House for at least 10 years. Many attended for over 20 years. To simply 'move on' after being a part of the Fellowship for so long is easier said than done. The other side to this is that most ex-members realize how wrong they were in some of their beliefs. It can be devastating to find that after 20 years you realize that how you acted in certain areas of your life was hardly "christian" at all: Cutting people off, putting down other churches, having disdain for those who aren't 'Potters House-enough', believing that almost anyone who leaves is a "rebel" or "backslidden", believing that your "destiny" is only in the church you got saved in, and so on.
The goal of this forum is to provide a resource for people in the Potters House to turn to when they have questions about these beliefs. To simply shed some light on these subjects and say it's not right and it's not biblical. Regretfully, most of us never questioned these beliefs while in the Potters House and we thought we were right on track. Through the forum, we hope that discussion of these subjects will help others realize the error of these beliefs a lot sooner than we did.

We are not trying to get people to leave the Potters House. That's something each person has to figure out according to their own convictions. I believe many pastors and members can take on board some of these concerns and not have to leave the Fellowship.
